The Replay of Micah 6:9-16

Advent is a time to reflect on the coming of Christ but any effectual
reflection must bear in mind the dire situation that humanity finds itself
in.  Like Israel, Christians and others find themselves immersed in sin.  We
may hate it, we may despise it, but the reality is it is part of the world.
All around us are dishonest business practices, violence, lying and
cheating.  We may even find ourselves participating in this from time to
time unknowingly.

If this is so, God’s judgment is: these sins are akin to the idolatry of
Omri and Ahab.  So what is a person to do?  When this truth is finally
accepted, the only hope the believer has is for a savior to be born who can
free us from this dire situation and who promises to recreate the world into
a more godly reality.  Such is the  hope we have at advent.  Not only has
our savior come and accomplished the first, but he is coming to finish the
second.  Rejoice, for the savior is coming.  Look and be ready!
